WHAT IS THERAPY ALL ABOUT?
Person-centered counseling is about providing a relationship which the client may use for their own personal growth ~Carl Rogers, American Psychologist
In a therapeutic setting, the counselor should be skilled in creating a safe and honoring space in which you can share your concerns and successes and process thoughts and feelings to help you cope better with life.
First and foremost, I take a person-centered approach to counseling which means you are treated with respect. You are accepted and cared for no matter where you are in your life or what you are struggling with. I listen and respond to your story with attentiveness, empathy, and genuineness.
My secondary approach to counseling is Integrated or Eclectic. This approach views your concerns from the theoretical approach that is most likely to help you. My main secondary approaches usually include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused (Brief) Therapy (SFT/SFBT), Strength Focused, and Gestalt.
